Nokia Launches New Android C1 with lolipop.
Last month, Nokia (the part that’s left behind post-Microsoft buyout) surprised us with a new Android tablet. Now, it looks like the Finnish company could be gearing up to release an Android-powered smartphone as well.
The Nokia C1 leaked out on Monday with what looks like a blurry press image of the alleged handset obtained by Chinese site TechWeb. The device will apparently come equipped with a 5-inch display, an Intel chip, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It’s expected to run Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box with Nokia’s Z Launcher pre-installed on top.
The design pictured above reminds us a lot of the iPhone 6 with its curved edges and unibody design. That doesn’t come as much of a surprise considering the close similarities between the Nokia N1 tablet and Apple’s iPad mini. Still, we’re hoping Nokia will try something different if it really plans to release an Android smartphone.
To be honest, we’re not really sure what to make of this new Nokia rumor. The company’s deal with Microsoft was supposed to block it from releasing any new smartphones in the near future, though it’s possible Nokia found a loophole. If the C1 is real we’ll probably get an official look early next year, though for now we wouldn’t expect much from today’s leak.
